Activities and Advice around Starting School

Please find a booklet about preparing children for school developed by the Professional Association for Childminders and Early Years:

Uniform

A full list and photos of each school’s uniform can be found here

Children come to school in September in their winter uniform.

School Lunches and School Money

All children in Reception are entitled to a free school lunch under the Government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals policy. Parents order these lunches using School Money.

Shortly after your child starts in Reception, you will receive a letter containing your child’s School money log in details and password which will allow you to order lunches going forward.  Further information about School Money can be found here.

Further information about lunchtimes, the ordering process and school menu can be found here.

Pupil Premium

The school is able to claim Pupil Premium for children whose parents are in receipt of one or more of a number of benefits, click here for the full list. Pupil Premium funding helps ensure that the school receives all the Government funding to which it is entitled.

If your child is registered for Pupil premium before March 2024, they will be entitled to free school lunches, music lessons and assistance with payment for school trips and uniform, until they finish primary school regardless of any chance in your circumstances.

If you think that your child may be eligible, please contact us for support or click here.

Milk

All children under the age of 5 receive free school milk as part of the Government Nursery Milk Scheme. At our schools, we include all Reception children in this. If you would like your child to have milk, please contact the school office and let us know.

If your child is in Year 1 or above and you would like them to have a glass of milk, we can arrange this at the cost of £1 a week, payable half termly in advance.

Staying in Touch

Before your child starts with us in September we will ask for your contact details, including emergency contact numbers and email addresses.  We will always ring you if your child is unwell and need all emergency contact numbers to be kept up to date.

We use email and text to keep in touch with you about school events and to share newsletters.
