Statement
The Ribblesdale Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.
We follow procedures set out by North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Board and take account of guidance issued by the Department for Children, Schools and Families. We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
NORTH YORKSHIRE SAFEGUARDING PAGE
All our staff have had appropriate child protection training, which is updated annually, and our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy can be accessed on this page. It is the Governing Body’s duty to ensure the policy is reviewed annually to reflect changes to KCSIE.
Our Safeguarding Team

Our safeguarding team is led by Mrs Maddocks, as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) across the federation. Each school has at least one on-site Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL):

All safeguarding concerns are securely logged using our online child protection monitoring system (CPOMS).
Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass is a police and education early information sharing partnership enabling schools to offer immediate support for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. Information is shared by the police with a school’s trained Key Adult (DSL) prior to the start of the next school day after officers have attended a domestic abuse incident thus enabling appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.
For more information, please visit the Operation Encompass website, which can be found here.

On-line Safety
At the Ribblesdale Federation we take online safety very seriously. All children receive lessons in e-safety every year and these ensure that each of the following key areas is addressed: Media Balance, Communication, Cyber bullying, Digital drama and Hate Speech, News and Media Literacy. If something concerns you while you are on the internet, you can speak to a teacher, or one of our Designated Safeguarding Team.
If anyone you know is worried about Child Exploitation, Online Protection or anything else related to internet safety you can click on this link to take you to the CEOP reporting website
